10,000 or 50,000 – which will be breached first? And will it be this year?

Mark Watson-Mitchell – 10.11.2025

Perhaps it was the suggestion by Donald Trump that he was thinking about giving everyone in the States the sum of $2,000 as extra spending money.

Perhaps it was something else that suddenly charged up the markets today.

Whatever it may have been – the effect has been electrifying.

The FTSE-100, as I write is up over 98 points on the day, after topping 103.90 points, a very healthy one-day gain in such nervous markets.

That peak was at 9786.47 – begging the question whether there is still so much more left in this year’s Bull Run.

And as for the States, the Dow Jones is standing at 47,139 – after hitting 47,303 in early trading this morning, US time.

So now the race is on!

Which Index will pierce the possible target levels first?

Will the DJI hit 50,000 before the FTSE gets to 10,000?

Although the two markets have certain sympathy in movement they do not always work along the same per centages.

Will the Dow put on another 6% to get to its goal or will the FTSE move up over 2% to gain that 10,000 objective.

On one hand, you have Donald Trump creating new bursts of spending money for his population – a classic economic move to stimulate business and thus taxes.

On the other hand, we have Rachel from Accounts doing her best to fill in the dissipated coffers of previous Governments, through looking for all means possible to tax the Nation.

We shall know her planned measures in sixteen day’s time.

It could well turn out to be a ‘neck and neck’ result.

PS .....

It is interesting to note today’s strength in Gold Futures, now up nearly 90 points to 4,097.90.
